Natural disasters have a funny way of eroding all the frivolous superficialities  in life, and circling in on what’s actually important. In the past week, my little corner of the universe has been experiencing just that. My soul aches for all those still suffering and in some cases dying without power. What a weight it must be on the utility workers’ shoulders. As we collectively re-build, this goddess is gently reminded of our shared humanity and the building blocks that shaped her. It may not always have been a solid foundation, but it was mine. I weep for those who lost their homes and have to now rebuild from practically nothing, and all the while knowing it could have been much much worse. I am humbled to build a reinforced appreciation for all that I have to be thankful for in the wake of so much tragic loss. Perspective is everything.
