When you are devoted to a cause or an individual you may appear as a mental patient would, off their medication. There is nothing within reason or not that you would not do for that which is the object of your devotion. It cannot be masked or covered up. Devotion reveals itself as clear as day to anyone who has eyes to see and can feel the subtle energies between two heart beats.
Addiction reveals itself as lust which is sometimes mistaken for love. Unlike devotion, addiction can be masked. It has clear limits which are unheard of for the devoted. Unrequited devotion can feel like being alone in a crowded room. Though we all still chance the room, or the crowd, or the feeling, until one day we may feel the subtle energy between heartbeats and know the rhythm is matching your own.
